Job Description
This is a great temp-to-hire administrative healthcare opportunity with our largest healthcare client in Maine, located in Scarborough and a very short drive from Portland and South Portland areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates provider’s schedule and ensures the smooth and efficient flow of patient care
2. Generates daily appointment lists, updating all cancellations and add-ons
3. Prepares charts for office visits and reviews for completeness
4. Triages incoming calls from internal and external sources providing excellent customer service
5. Enters calls into telephone encounter and forwards to clinical team for review and follow up
6. Uploads faxed documents to patient chart and forwards to clinical team when appropriate
7. Schedules appointments, and obtains prior authorizations, as required
8. Coordinates follow-up appointments
9. Processes FMLA and other disability forms
10. Monitors department voicemail on designated unassigned phone line where patients leave messages
11. Follows up with no-show patients
12. Retrieves required past documents, procedure notes, operative notes, etc., and scans any documents required to be uploaded in patient chart
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with daily processing of office correspondence and appropriate distribution.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, providers, staff, and others.
- Keeps abreast of current issues involving patient care or practice issues by attending and participating in department, team and practice meetings
- Attends meetings, as assigned, and participates in educational activities to keep skills up to date.
- Works on special projects, as requested.
- Demonstrates professionalism at all times.
- Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous administrative healthcare experience
- Excellent customer service skills, with pleasant/professional telephone voice
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, leadership and other staff
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks to meet changing demands daily
- Ability to work independently and excel as a member of a team
- Proficient computer skills with knowledge of electronic medical records
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
