Job Description

We are searching for qualified candidates for two direct-hire or temp-to-hire Certified Medical Assistant openings currently available through our healthcare client, centrally located in downtown Portland ME.

This is an immediate direct-hire or temp-to-hire opening tailored for certified candidates who are looking to gain valuable experience in a large and established local Maine network, offering strong room for growth within the specialty and exceptional company benefits.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week)
  • Salary: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience

Clinical Duties:

  • Patient Preparation: Room patients promptly, documenting vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
  • Assisting Providers: Support physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Administer and prepare patients for tests such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, phlebotomy, and immunizations.
  • Specimen Handling: Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring proper labeling and preparation for analysis.
  • Medication Management: Assist with medication reconciliation, administer injections, and manage prescription refills under provider supervision.
  • Patient Education: Provide information on treatments, medications, and health maintenance to patients

Admin Duties:

  • Appointment Coordination: Schedule patient visits and manage follow-up appointments.
  • Documentation: Accurately enter patient information into electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Communication: Manage patient inquiries via phone, email, and patient portals, addressing concerns and relaying messages to providers.
  • Office Management: Handle clerical tasks such as sorting and scanning documents, managing incoming faxes, and maintaining patient records.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • MUST be Maine certified/licensed Medical Assistant (Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required OR must obtain within 30 days of start date

Additional Information

Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology and coding
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and basic life support techniques
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs and record patient information
- Experience in patient care, including assisting with procedures and treatments
- Familiarity with medication administration techniques
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
