Patient Service Specialist

We are seeking qualified candidates with prior healthcare office experience to join our client's surgical practice in Scarborough ME. As a Patient Service Specialist, you will be responsible for high-volume patient coordination for new and existing patients, complex procedure scheduling for minimally invasive surgeries, and processing of prior authorizations and incoming/outgoing patient referrals.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage patient scheduling, including new visits, follow-ups, procedures, and diagnostic testing
- Process and track incoming referrals, ensuring timely completion and communication
- Greet and assist patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy
- Support check-in and check-out processes and maintain accurate patient records
- Answer and triage phone calls, messages, and appointment inquiries
- Verify insurance information and assist with authorization processes
- Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, and care teams to maintain efficient clinic operations
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to the network's policies and procedures
Job Requirements
Skills:
- Required: Basic understanding of medical terminology from prior healthcare experience or educational experience
- Required: Strong attention to detail and time management
- Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with EMR systems
- Preferred: Prior experience in high-volume patient scheduling, referrals, or prior authorizations
