Legal Assistant
Job Description
Are you an organized, detail-oriented legal professional with Personal Injury experience looking to grow your career? Our client is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join its busy and supportive team in Dover, NH. In this role, you will support trial attorneys handling personal injury cases in State and Federal Courts. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of law firm experience, with at least one year of Personal Injury experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents including correspondence, motions, and objections
- Assist with discovery and manage case documents
- File legal papers in State and Federal Courts (including e-filing systems)
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel by phone and email
- Prepare and organize case files for hearings and trials
- Manage personal injury case files from start to finish
- Contact claims adjusters and request medical records
- Review and organize medical evidence for trial
- Schedule medical and impairment evaluations
- Monitor court deadlines and discovery timelines
Job Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant - at least one year in personal injury law required
- Knowledge of State and Federal Court rules and filing procedures
- Experience with legal document preparation and case file management
- Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Adobe
- Experience with NetDocuments or similar document management systems is a plus
