Our client located in the Scarborough area - Maine's leading Healthcare organization, state-wide, is looking for a Patient Services Representative.

Position Summary:

Acts as a liaison between patients, referring offices, and the clinical areas by facilitating and scheduling accurate and timely appointments while providing general clerical support.

Essential Functions:

• Manages telephone calls from referring offices, as well as new or existing patients.

• Determining the most appropriate appointments while utilizing scheduling resources.

• Obtains and collects accurate patient information.

• Coordinates patients for surgery and necessary pre-surgical appointments.

• Processes appointments via a fax referral system.

• Process insurance prior authorization and document.

• Accurately enter information into the electronic record.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Maintains open communication by updating staff of appointment changes.

• Attend meetings, as assigned, and participate in educational activities to keep skills up-to-date.

• Demonstrate professionalism at all times.

• Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment.

• Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic.

• Is proactive in identifying, reporting, and participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient safety issue.

Job Requirements

Summary of Requirements:

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Customer service: (1 year).

• Medical terminology: (1 year).

• Computer skills: (1 year).


• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks and have the flexibility to meet changing demands on a daily basis

• Strong customer service skills, with pleasant/professional telephone voice

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficient computer skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Operation of various office equipment; fax machine, telephone & voice mail system, stationary/laptop computer, scanner, e-mail system, cell phone, pager, and copier.

• Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other general record-keeping materials.

• Lifting of mail bins and boxes up to 50 lbs..

• Light travel to various sites of service.

• May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Additional Information



• Monday through Friday.

• 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
